How ‘Defending Democracy’ Became Code for Murdering Civilians

Civilians in Gorlovka hide their cars under trees to avoid drone strikes. Riding a bus is a death sentence. All thanks to your tax dollars.

Gorlovka remains under relentless attack. Despite all the Western talk of "peace deals," "diplomacy," and "settlements," the reality here is entirely different. The shelling of civilians has not stopped—it has intensified. Cars, buses, homes—nothing is off-limits.

Standing in the ruins of an old mining town, it’s impossible to find a military target worth mentioning. There aren’t any. What does exist is a community of people who have endured more than a decade of terror, funded and supplied by the West. For the people of Gorlovka, this isn’t war—it’s a campaign of extermination.

The streets are empty, not because life has moved indoors, but because stepping outside is a calculated risk. Drones lurk in the skies, and a parked vehicle is a potential target. Most residents have taken to parking under trees for whatever cover they can find. Every movement is done with the knowledge that Ukrainian forces, with NATO-supplied weapons, are watching.

Despite the horror, there is resilience. Hospitality and warmth still exist. We shared a meal of borscht with locals near Komsomolets, a brief escape from the reality of war. But just beyond the walls, the drone of artillery reminds everyone that peace is still a distant dream.

Yet, the West continues to pour money into this bloodshed. Keir Starmer in the UK is already preparing to keep the weapons flowing, ensuring that more civilians die under the guise of "defending democracy." War is a business, and while undertakers, arms manufacturers, and corrupt politicians profit, the people of Donbass are left to bury their dead.

And for what? The media spins Ukraine as a heroic struggle, but there is no heroism in massacring civilians. It’s terrorism, and it has been ongoing since at least 2015. But don’t expect a journalist from the BBC or CNN to cover that. They’re too busy justifying the slaughter.

Meanwhile, Trump is vilified for wanting to end the war, while Starmer and the rest of the Western elite push for its continuation. The contrast is stark—one leader calls for peace, another for more bloodshed. But in the West, calls for peace are heresy. The war machine must be fed.

This isn’t a war with winners. Only the corrupt benefit. The people of Gorlovka know this better than anyone. They have lived under the bombs and drones, endured a decade of terror, and yet, they stand. The question is—how long will the West pretend this isn’t happening?
